How to Use Rose Water for Healthy Skin

The iconic rose has been used in skincare formulas for millennia, due to its renowned nourishing and soothing properties. Rose water, in particular, has countless benefits when used on the skin. It's easy to see why so many people reach for this natural yet luxurious ingredient when it comes to skincare.

Find out how rose water is made, how to use it, and why the Y.Wait Beauty team love it so much, here in this blog post!

What is Rose Water and how is it made?

It's as simple as it sounds! Rose water is made of roses and water, and has been used in beauty treatments for thousands of years. It is so popular because it gives amazing results, it is suitable for all skin types, and it comes from nature.

It is made by steeping rose petals and buds in water - typically, the water is boiling and added to crushed rose flowers. The condensation is collected, and this is how you get rose water.

What are the benefits of using it on my skin?

  1. It clarifies and balances natural oils, leaving your face refreshed.

  2. It can reduce the appearance of redness by cooling and calming the skin.

  3. It is a natural hydrator and provides essential moisture.

  4. It is rich in antioxidants and skin-loving nutrients.

  5. It helps to prevent fine lines and improves the appearance of existing ones.

  6. It can cleanse impurities and decongest the skin.

  7. Its toning properties help to tighten, plump and give you smooth skin.

  8. It leaves your face looking luminous and glowy.

  9. It smells divine!

How should I use it?

Roses have so many wonderful uses (have you tried our Rose Bud & Petal Tea?) but rose water is especially effective as a facial toner as it is gentle and nutrient-rich. Plus, it makes a brilliant base for your other skincare products. Here is Y.Wait's recommended routine using rose water as a toner:

  1. Use a natural cleanser to cleanse your skin thoroughly.

  2. With a cotton pad or cloth, apply Y.Wait Beauty Rose Water Toner to your face and neck in gentle sweeping motions.

  3. Allow the toner to sink in, then pat/massage in a couple of drops of facial serum.

  4. Once this has been absorbed, apply a natural moisturiser.
